This year’s Greater Good season explores powerful true stories that examine courage, agency, justice, and the impact of ordinary people taking extraordinary action. Audiences will experience Predictor, the remarkable story of the woman who invented the first home pregnancy test; Conscience, a gripping political drama about speaking truth to power; The Wash, honoring the Black laundresses who fought for labor rights in 1881; and Raising Twelve on a Nickel and a Prayer, presented in a heartfelt concert version about love, family, and perseverance. We produce a full season of theatre inspired by real people and real moments, inviting audiences into experiences that deepen understanding and spark conversation.
Powerstories holds auditions throughout the year for roles in these productions, welcoming performers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Each audition notice includes clear details on dates, requirements, and preparation, ensuring an open and accessible process. Our stage supports playwrights and performers who bring authentic voices forward, creating opportunities for artists to grow, collaborate, and share meaningful work.
Playwrights can also apply to be part of the Voices of Women Theatre Festival, now in its seventh year and featuring women playwrights from local, national, and sometimes international communities. Submissions open annually for full‑length plays and short works that align with the festival’s mission of amplifying women’s stories and expanding representation on stage. The festival continues to grow each year, offering a meaningful platform for women whose stories deserve to be seen and heard.
