PREDICTOR AT STAGEWORKS
July 17 – July 26
On Stage July 17-26, 2025
Venue: Stageworks Theatre
Predictor by Jennifer Blackmer tells the remarkable true story of Margaret “Meg” Crane, the woman who invented the first home pregnancy test in 1967. What began as a simple idea in a pharmaceutical lab became a revolutionary tool that gave women privacy, autonomy, and answers in their own homes.
This sharp, funny, and surreal new play takes audiences inside Meg’s whirlwind of imagination and determination as she battles corporate resistance, societal expectations, and her own doubts. Moving fluidly through past, present, and future, Predictor is both an absurdist comic romp, game show, and a heartfelt exploration of what it means to fight for agency in a world determined to silence you.

Join inventor Meg Crane via Zoom for an intimate, relaxed Beyond the Story Q&A at Powerstories Studio, a rare chance to meet her before Predictor comes to the stage. In 1967, she imagined something the world had never seen – the first home pregnancy test – and quietly reshaped the future of women’s autonomy with a single, revolutionary idea.
With only a limited number of seats in the studio, you’ll be close enough to feel the spark of her story as she reflects on the moment that set everything in motion and the courage it took to stand by her vision. The event is free, but an RSVP is required to reserve your seat.
Be part of a room hearing history directly from the woman who lived it.
