Dr. Ann Burgess is a pioneering force in trauma research and criminal profiling.
Her early work in the 1960s helped establish one of the first hospital-based crisis counseling programs, and her later research at the FBI Academy reshaped how investigators understand serial offenders. Many believe she created a whole new sector of science.
Her expertise inspired Netflix’s Mindhunter and Hulu’s Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer. At 89, she continues to teach, publish, and investigate cases, including the recent disappearance of author Nancy Guthrie.
