Powerstories serves audiences of all ages and backgrounds who seek meaningful theatre rooted in real people and real moments. All of our programming is designed to serve our community. From the stories we choose to tell in our Season of Shows, to the opportunities we create for women playwrights through the Voices of Women Theatre Festival, to the audiences we inspire through shared experiences and testimonials, Powerstories exists for people who believe in the power of true stories. We also serve the women and girls who learn to claim and tell their own stories through Seek and Speak Your Powerstory and Girlstories Leadership Theatre, helping them build confidence, agency, and a sense of belonging.
Access is central to our mission. We keep our production values high and our ticket prices low so that live theatre remains within reach for as many people as possible. Through the STAGE Initiative (Sponsored Tickets for Access, Gathering and Equity), we work with schools, nonprofits, and community partners to offer tickets so that those who may not otherwise attend live theatre can experience meaningful performances and the conversations that follow. Scholarships for workshops and Girlstories Leadership Theatre further ensure that cost is never a barrier for women and girls who want to learn, perform, and grow.
At the heart of Powerstories is a simple philosophy: true stories open minds and heart and inspire change. When people see themselves reflected onstage, when they hear voices that have been overlooked, when they gather to listen, question, and connect, communities grow stronger. We serve artists, audiences, students, families, and neighbors – anyone who believes in the transformative power of storytelling – and we remain committed to creating spaces where every voice has the opportunity to be heard.
- Scholarships
Powerstories believes that every woman and girl deserves the chance to participate, regardless of financial circumstances. We offer limited scholarships for all workshops and for Girlstories Leadership Theatre to ensure that cost is never a barrier to creativity or growth. These scholarships help make our programs accessible to everyone who wishes to learn, perform, and share their story. - Community Engagement and the STAGE Initiative
Through the STAGE Initiative (Sponsored Tickets for Access, Gathering and Equity), we partner with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to provide sponsored tickets and introduce new audiences to live theatre. This work expands access, supports meaningful conversations, and ensures that people who may not otherwise attend a performance have the opportunity to experience the arts in a welcoming environment. - Community Engagement & Beyond the Story
Beyond the Story is a conversation series that gives audiences a closer look at the themes, history, and artistic process behind each production before the production. These sessions invite deeper reflection, offer context, and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue before a show reaches the stage. - Post-Show Talkback
Our productions include a post‑show talkback that invites the audience to learn more about the themes, creative process, and experiences behind the work. These conversations create space for reflection, connection, and deeper understanding after seeing the show, giving guests the chance to hear directly from artists, and experts. - Art Wall
The Art Wall is a themed, community‑created online exhibit that invites people to share original artwork inspired by a show in our season. Contributors can submit drawings, paintings, photography, digital art, or mixed‑media pieces that reflect their interpretation of the theme. Each collection becomes a visual conversation, showcasing many perspectives in one shared gallery. The Art Wall offers a welcoming space for artists of all ages and skill levels to express themselves and be part of a community‑wide creative project. - Voices of Women Theatre Festival
Our annual festival showcases new works by women and girls. Through live and digital performances, the festival expands access to diverse perspectives and celebrates women’s stories that resonate across communities. - Greater Good Gatherings
In collaboration with our Greater Good season, Powerstories will host a series of free community events that support and celebrate the community. - Studio
Our boutique micro theatre studio is an intimate space designed for small performances, creative gatherings, rehearsals, and mission‑aligned events. The studio offers a welcoming setting where artists and community members can explore ideas, share work, and connect through storytelling.
